Guitar Lessons in Eugene, Oregon
Michael Radliff has taught the guitar to hundreds of students over the past 18 years, from absolute beginners to guitarists with decades of experience, ranging from ages 5 to 65.
Genres of study include jazz, blues, pop, acoustic, fingerstyle/folk, rock, classical, country, funk/R&B, singing and playing, as well as songwriting and music theory.
All guitar lessons are tailored to each student’s unique interests while focusing on good musicianship and technique.
Guitar students will learn the fundamentals of music notation and how to read TAB and chord charts, how to play fluid single note melodies and strum with a solid sense of rhythm. They will learn to identify the notes of the fret board in an easy systematic manner. They’ll explore the fret board with moveable chord shapes, scales and arpeggios while working on improvisation and ear training. Most importantly, students will learn the songs and styles of music they love.
Playing music is fun and extremely gratifying, but learning to play an instrument has many additional significant benefits. Playing an instrument develops self-confidence, increases listening and communication skills, and provides an outlet for personal expression. Recent scientific research has shown that actively working with musical sounds enhances the brain's ability to adapt and change. It can have a far-reaching and meaningful impact on a student’s life, and it’s never too late to start.

“My goal as a teacher is to provide each student with the skills necessary to play the music they are interested in and to foster a love of music that will last a lifetime.
I consider it an honor and a privilege to share the musical knowledge and appreciation I have accumulated over the years, and I am passionate about doing that to the best of my ability.”
